Opening with updates from Doctoral Candidates

The Training Week is set to start with the first two days dedicated to presentations from DCs who will share updates on their research projects. These sessions will provide a platform for DCs to showcase their progress and receive feedback from peers and mitochondrial experts. Complementing these presentations, DCs will benefit from lectures delivered by external speakers on mitochondrial processes and maintenance.

On the second day, a dedicated session to the work of the Lily Foundation will explore the significance of collaborations with patients, underscoring the importance of patient-centric research in the field of mitochondrial diseases. Following the discussions, DCs will participate in a hands-on outreach workshop provided by accelopment to improve their communication skills.

Biostatistics Summer School and becoming an efficient researcher

From day three to day six, the focus will shift to the Biostatistics Summer School, an intensive programme based on the renowned training offered by R4BioStats. Topics will include clinical trial design, advanced statistical methods, and practical biostatistics applications, providing DCs with essential research skills.

The final two days of the Training Week will concentrate on professional development, with workshops delivered by CRAC/Vitae. These sessions will delve into strategies for becoming an effective researcher, with a particular emphasis on communication and impact. DCs will learn how to effectively disseminate their research findings to both academic and non-academic audiences, ensuring their work has the greatest possible impact.

The MITGEST training week offers DCs the opportunity to network with peers and experts, gain insights from leading researchers, and develop essential skills that will enhance their careers. This event is not only a chance to advance academically but also to grow personally and professionally.
