The MITGEST project is pleased to announce the upcoming 15th Mitochondrial Disease Conference, organised by our associated partner Mitocon. The event will take place in Pisa, Italy, from 23 to 25 January 2026, bringing together clinicians, researchers, patient advocates and families to share the latest advances in mitochondrial medicine.
Now in its 15th edition, the Mito Conference is one of the foremost national gatherings dedicated to mitochondrial diseases. Over three days of scientific sessions, keynote lectures, poster presentations and satellite symposia, experts will discuss novel therapies, translational research, clinical registries and opportunities for collaboration across academia, industry and patient organisations.
As an associated partner of the MITGEST project, Mitocon plays a vital role in strengthening the connection between research endeavours and the real-world needs of patients and families affected by mitochondrial disease. The Conference’s inclusive programme, welcoming patients alongside clinicians and scientists, reflects this mission to integrate community perspectives into the research landscape.
Project Coordinator Dr Carlo Vascotto will attend the conference to promote the goals and latest developments of MITGEST, engaging with attendees and strengthening ties with Mitocon’s network. This presents an excellent opportunity to discuss project progress, exchange ideas with international stakeholders, and explore avenues for future cooperation in advancing mitochondrial research.
We are also delighted to highlight the long-standing partnership with Mitocon: Mrs Paula Morandi, representing Mitocon, joined the very first MITGEST training week and shared invaluable insights about patient advocacy and scientific engagement during her interview available on our website.
Stay tuned to the MITGEST news page for further updates from our doctoral candidates and the latest developments from the project.
